35 Week and Completed Room Pictures

Finally the crib has arrived! So her room is now complete. I had to hide part of a picture below because her name is on the wall in wooden block letters... but we're keeping the name a secret until she arrives. Feel free to wonder about what that space might be saying! I also put in an updated picture of my ever expanding belly. The picture is me at 35 weeks- hard to imagine that there could be 5 more weeks of growth! I think I might burst. What's scary is that my stomach is even bigger without clothes hiding it. We have a doctor's appointment next week, so one of us (likely me) will give an update then on any baby news.

34 1/2 Weeks

So I'm finding it funny that all the titles of our posts revolve around how far along baby is... I guess that shows all our life consists of right now! All continues to go well on the baby growing front. I had my check-up today, and everything continues to look good. I am measuring a little big again, but that was absolutely no surprise to me. One bit of good news- it seems that she has decided to flip upside down for us. Our doctor wasn't 100% sure, but he will be able to verify that more at our next appointment. That was definitely a relief for me though, as the whole C-section idea was making me nervous.
I think we are fully prepared for her arrival as well! Her crib still has not arrived, but I think that it is supposed to ship this week. We are having her in a bassinet to begin with anyway, so the crib won't be a necessity at first. All other parts of her room are now ready though, and I think I have gotten all necessary supplies. Our house feels like it has been taken over by baby !
Here are some pictures of her room thus far- excluding the main wall where her crib and name will be!

It is definitely a girly little space!
My doctor also said at our appointment today that when I get to 36 weeks, that's considered full-term. So basically, in 2 weeks from now, baby girl could be arriving at any point! I'm praying that she decides to make her arrival shortly after 38 weeks... since I am in my friend's wedding on May 16. :) We'll see what happens though!

7 More Weeks to Go!

I have been telling Derek that it is his turn to update the blog... but as we can see, that hasn't happened yet. :) I decided to be nice and do it for him since I no longer work on Thursdays! We are basically into the 33rd week of pregnancy, so only 7 (give or take) more weeks to go till we meet our baby girl! I am very thankful for that. However, I really cannot complain as I have still continued to have a very easy pregnancy. My back hurts some nights, and I occasionally have heartburn (which I think happens after I eat my favorite spicy foods), but other than that I have honestly felt great.
My only complaint is that my stomach could be that of a 38 week pregnant woman, rather than 32! (as in the picture below). I keep getting reactions from people along the lines of wow, you have that far to go yet? That is often paired with a sympathetic look that I can only imagine means you poor girl, you are going to be huge by 40 weeks. Oh well, as long as baby girl is BIG and healthy, I guess it's okay!

We had our 32 week check-up this week, and baby continues to be doing great. However, our doctor did think that she is currently in the breech position, meaning her head is up near my ribs rather than her bottom. There is still time for her to move, but if she doesn't, he will do an external version on her to try and get her to flip the right away around. I am praying that she will move on her own as I've heard that procedure is VERY painful and doesn't always work. She is still super active, so I am hopeful that she will decide to flip around soon! Derek says its because she doesn't want all the blood to rush to her head yet. :)
Not much else is new for us. Some of her baby furniture has come in (finally) so we have been able to work more on her room. We are just waiting for the crib, and then we can complete everything! We'll take some pictures of our progress soon. Work continues to go well for both of us. Derek is very busy at work right now, along with doing freelance work on a website at home. I, on the other hand, am very not busy at work- hence the reason for my new scheduled day off! Hospice has been very slow lately, so I've had to take days off. I really haven't minded that at all though, and have decided I will definitely like being home with baby. :)

Fun weekend!

So Derek and I had an awesome weekend... mainly because we got to see some "real life" pictures of our little girl! At our last doctor appointment, my doctor told us about a clinic in Des Moines that does 3D/4D ultrasounds for a very low price. So we definitely decided to go for it, and were lucky to already get an appointment on Saturday. We did have a little difficulty finding the place (apparently Mapquest needs to know the difference between Des Moines and W. Des Moines) but we made it there on time. So we had a 15 minute session of looking at amazing pictures of our little girl! We also found out right away that she is definitely a she, which was a big relief to us both. That could have made all the pink we've been buying quite a problem! We got lots of pictures and even a DVD of the session, so it was well worth it.

Baby girl sucking on her little hand.
Baby girl with her hand up near her mouth
Baby girl with her hand (as you can see, she kept tucking her head down and trying to hide- she's shy!)
Definitely hiding on this picture
Baby girl's little face
This is the position she was in for a lot of the time- all balled up with her hand and feet up by her head!
Her leg- which apparently is very long already, as well as her feet
My personal favorite- full on of her chubby little face!
Again showing off her acrobatic skills.

Having the ultrasound done again was so much fun, and we are even more excited to meet her, now that we know what she looks like! She is pretty chubby already, which could explain why my belly is becoming quite huge (see below!). I'm at 29 weeks right now, and the ultrasound tech said a normal weight was 2 1/2 lbs. From the measurements she took, our baby was already at 3 lbs and 3 oz. So she could be pretty big! That is fine with us though; as long as she continues to be healthy and strong.

Lindsey at 29 weeks- Derek has determined that my belly is about the size of a basketball. It could be scary to see how big I will be at the end, since I still have 11 weeks to go!

These are the pictures of my art project from a few weekends ago. We are waiting to hang them until her furniture gets in. Some pieces have come into the store, but not all of them. We're hoping that it will all get here in the next week or two so that we can start completing more of her room.
Another exciting event of the past week is that we did finally find a car! We worked with a dealer in Pella, and they found an Escape for us in Arkansas. So we got it last Tuesday and really like it so far. It'll definitely be nicer to have a bigger vehicle for life with a baby. That's pretty much all that is new for us- we'll keep you updated!

Car woes

It has been a few weeks since either of us have posted, so I (Lindsey) thought I would give an update of what is happening in Pella... which is actually not much. We are into the 27th week of pregnancy, so almost into the 3rd trimester. I continue to feel great with no problems, which is definitely a blessing! We have a doctor's check-up next week, and I will be having a gestational diabetes test and some bloodwork done at that time as well. Then I will be going to the doctor every 2 weeks, which is good because that means due-day is coming closer!
We haven't really done too much else preparation for baby. A couple of weekends ago, I did have an "artwork" weekend. I had seen these butterfly canvases that I thought would be cute in baby's room, but I thought Derek and I would be able to make them so that the colors matched perfectly. So we bought some canvas boards, which Derek painted, and a bunch of scrapbook paper. Derek made a template of a butterfly on the computer, and then I just cut out different pieces of paper to make a butterfly, which we glued on the canvas. They look pretty cute, so we'll have to take a picture of them and post it. We are still waiting for her furniture to come in, which could possibly take until April. So there's not much else we can do until then!
One funny thing that happened this past weekend... Derek and I have been looking into purchasing a bigger car for a few months now, in particular a Ford Escape. We had been in negotiations with a couple dealers, but the cars always ended up selling before we reached an agreement. SO finally this past week, we came to an agreement on price with a dealer in Illinois, which we were both very excited about. On Saturday, we made a 3 1/2 hour road trip to pick up the car. Well, when we got there and saw the car, we were a little disappointed. The car was not in the best shape, and we didn't think it was worth the cost we had agreed upon. So long story short... we ended up going back home with no car. We then had several other issues on the way home, such as running extremely low on gas and not being near a gas station, missing an exit on the interstate and taking a weird way home.... Needless to say, it was an interesting day. But we'll keep on the search for another car, and hopefully not have all of the same problems!

25 (almost 26) weeks

We are now 25 weeks into our pregnancy- almost 26! I had a doctor's appointment the other day, and everything is continuing to look great. I had been measuring big, but my size was right on target yesterday. I was also nervous that I was going to get scolded by my doctor for gaining too much weight again (as this had happened at our last appointment) but I was right on track for that as well! Baby girl continues to be quite active in my belly. We have even been able to see my stomach move when she kicks hard, which is pretty fun to watch. Not much else is new for us! As Derek has said, the room is now all painted, so we are now just waiting for her furniture to all come in. I'm getting pretty anxious for her due date to be here, even though we have a fairly long wait till that time yet. Pregnancy has been very easy for me, but I am excited to meet our little girl!
